KATRINA ONLY DOES KONMARI NOW.

I celebrate new years from my birthday (december 17) throughout the entire month of January. As most people do, I reflect and set goals, but this year felt different. As a way to navigate grief following my mother’s passing, I’ve dove deeper into gratitude and found that although I’ve purged many belongings after moving once every year for the last 10 years of my life, you must constantly arrange your life for the most present version of yourself. Insert KonMari method:

If you’ve been watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo , then you saw how she waltzed into homes and helped organize clothes and clutter. I’ve been mildly successful at living a more mindful home life in the past few years, so these episodes assured me I’m doing fine and helped me sharpen my techniques! My favorite was the folding technique. My drawers are so pretty now! I can always improve. I challenged myself not to think too much about it.

I still call clothes that i dont wear to school or work “play clothes”. Id like all of my clothes to be play clothes.

It was actually fun to really toUch every piece of clothing and ask whether it brought me joy- releasing It and thanking it for covering me. Of course my beyonce sweatshirt made the cut

The best part of course is giving lightly worn items to someone who will wear them. Im giving these to a clothing drive that supports folks in need of professional attire.

This is only the beginning for me- I’ll share how I use the KonMari method for everything! For now, my getting ready experience just leveled up! Making everything *Fash—un!* just got 10x easier!

2019 motto: "she designed a life she loved."

with tribe called quest setting the vibe, sage in the air, my new year’s eve was spent reflecting on my journey thus far and planning for what i know will be my best year ever. there’s so much happening in the world so fast that making an impact and being a changemaker becomes exhausting. to ensure i get off to a great start, here’s what i did:

WHY’D I START THIS BLOG?

Basically. I also have a lot to say about change that won’t fit neatly in the comments sections of facebook or instagram- so there’s that.

so expect to see this space change constantly as I explore blogging and getting after these goals:

  1. stay connected to my network near and far

  2. reflect on service leadership and social impact through my volunteer activity

  3. navigate an entrepreneurial career and lifestyle

  4. promote wellness & self-care for all

  5. share and find inspiration everywhere for a new brand that I’ve been cooking.

I’ve had so many awesome experiences and it’s still in full effect, i’m learning so much and hope to continue to make impact in my community. Here i’ll unpack and share insights from the road that will help unlock “more life”.-drake voice-.

Lastly, I also want to live out my values of vulnerability, creativity, authenticity and fun just to name a few, which can be quite interesting when you aim to be a changemaker so here’s to new hobbies, businesses and connections!
